The Indian Premier League, popularly known as IPL, is one of the most-watched and entertaining cricket leagues in the world. It is an annual tournament where eight teams representing different Indian cities participate and compete against each other for the championship trophy. Over the years, IPL has witnessed some of the most incredible moments, and one such moment is a hattrick.
A hattrick is a rare feat in cricket, where a bowler takes three wickets in three consecutive deliveries. In IPL, a hattrick is considered a significant achievement as it requires exceptional skill, precision, and mental strength. Since the inception of the league in 2008, there have been only 20 hattricks, making it a rare event.
The first hattrick in IPL history was taken by Lakshmipathy Balaji, playing for the Chennai Super Kings, in the inaugural edition of the tournament against the Kings XI Punjab. Since then, many bowlers have achieved this remarkable feat, including some of the legendary cricketers like Amit Mishra, Yuvraj Singh, Lasith Malinga,Rohit Sharma and Yuzvendra Chahal.
One of the most memorable hat-tricks in IPL history was taken by the West Indian all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo, playing for the Chennai Super Kings. In the 2013 edition of the tournament, CSK was playing against the Mumbai Indians, and Bravo took three wickets in three balls to complete his hattrick. He dismissed the batsmen Harbhajan Singh, Ambati Rayudu, and Kieron Pollard to achieve this incredible feat, helping his team win the match by a considerable margin.
