The Big Bash League 2023-24 (BBL13) season has undergone some significant changes in response to criticism about its length. With a reduction in the number of games from 56 to 40, each team will now play only 10 regular season matches instead of the usual 14. This will result in each team facing three other teams in double-ups.
Additionally, the finals format has been adjusted. Only the top four teams will advance to the knockout stage, compared to the top five format used in previous seasons. This means that four finals will take place in this season, instead of the usual five.
